SS-31
What the molecule is, where the sequence comes from, and what it binds. This page does not describe what SS-31 does.
Structure
What SS-31 is
Origin. A synthetic tetrapeptide with an alternating aromatic-cationic motif, also known as elamipretide.
Molecular target. Characterised by its affinity for cardiolipin, a phospholipid of the inner mitochondrial membrane.
Both statements are facts about the molecule and can be checked against any reference database. Neither is a statement about an outcome, and this page makes none.

Grouped by structure
Mitochondrial and cofactor
Peptides encoded in or targeted to the mitochondrion, and the cofactors that pathway runs on.
Compounds on this site are grouped by what the molecule is, not by what anyone intends to do with it. SS-31 sits with 5 other compounds in this group because of its structure and its target, and for no other reason.
Compared side by side: 5-Amino-1MQ vs SS-31 and SLU-PP-332 vs SS-31.
