What is MOTS-c?
MOTS-c is a short, 16-amino-acid peptide that mitochondria, the energy-producing structures inside cells, build from a stretch of DNA once dismissed as junk rather than a working gene. A University of Southern California team led by Changhan Lee first described it in 2015. Unlike most hormones, which come from glands, MOTS-c is made inside the cell's own power plants and appears to signal back out from there. SBz Industries sells it for laboratory research only.
Has MOTS-c been tested in humans?
Only by measuring the peptide's natural levels in blood. No published trial has given people MOTS-c and monitored them afterward, that treatment research is all in mice.
What have the mouse studies on MOTS-c actually looked at?
In mice that were older or fed a high-fat diet, researchers linked the peptide to better blood sugar handling and less weight gain compared with untreated mice on the same diet.
How is MOTS-c reconstituted?
MOTS-c ships as a freeze-dried powder. Mix it with bacteriostatic water, added slowly down the inside wall of the vial, and let it dissolve without shaking. The researcher decides the working concentration, not us, and we publish no protocols.
How should MOTS-c be stored?
Lyophilized: -20C, protected from light. Reconstituted: 2-8C. Vials ship in plain outer packaging with no product name on the outside.
Is MOTS-c tested, and can I see the results?
Yes. An independent lab tests every compound: it confirms the compound is what the label says and measures purity by HPLC. The latest certificate is on the product page, and you can read it before you order.
Who is permitted to purchase MOTS-c?
Researchers and institutions, 21 or over. By ordering you confirm the material is for laboratory research and will not be used in humans or animals.
