What is MT-2?
MT-2 is short for Melanotan II, a lab-made peptide built to mimic a hormone the pituitary gland makes called alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. Researchers at the University of Arizona designed it in the 1980s as a sunless-tanning candidate, the idea being that it switches on the same skin-pigment machinery a day outdoors does. It is also the parent molecule that a smaller fragment, PT-141, was later cut from. SBz Industries sells it for laboratory research only.
Is MT-2 the same thing as PT-141?
No, but they are related. PT-141 is a smaller fragment cut from the Melanotan II structure that acts on a more specific set of receptors.
How much human research exists on Melanotan II?
A handful of small studies from the 1990s covering a few dozen people in total, mostly measuring skin color. Almost nothing formal has been published since.
How is MT-2 reconstituted?
MT-2 ships as a freeze-dried powder. Mix it with bacteriostatic water, added slowly down the inside wall of the vial, and let it dissolve without shaking. The researcher decides the working concentration, not us, and we publish no protocols.
How should MT-2 be stored?
Store as stated on the product page and the certificate of analysis. Vials ship in plain outer packaging with no product name on the outside.
Is MT-2 tested, and can I see the results?
Yes. An independent lab tests every compound: it confirms the compound is what the label says and measures purity by HPLC. The latest certificate is on the product page, and you can read it before you order.
Who is permitted to purchase MT-2?
Researchers and institutions, 21 or over. By ordering you confirm the material is for laboratory research and will not be used in humans or animals.
