Identity

What BPC-157 is

Pull the name apart and BPC-157 tells on itself: Body Protection Compound, and the number counts the fifteen amino acids stitched together to build it, since pentadeca- just means fifteen. It's modeled on a fragment of a protein naturally found in stomach lining, though the version studied and sold is entirely lab-made. Almost all of the published research on it traces back to one long-running research group in Croatia.

BPC-157 is a synthetic pentadecapeptide of 15 amino acid residues, molecular formula C62H98N16O22, molecular weight 1419.5 g/mol. SBz Industries sells it for laboratory research.

Research

What the research has looked at

In plain terms, with a link to every study. The most useful thing to notice is what each study was done in.

BPC-157 has been studied extensively in rats and mice, especially in soft-tissue and gut-injury models, going back more than two decades, and a 2019 review noted that only a handful of labs worldwide have done that work. Genuine human research is only just beginning to appear, in the form of small pilot studies rather than large controlled trials.

rats2003

Researchers surgically cut the Achilles tendon in rats, then gave repeated injections of BPC-157 or plain saltwater, checking healing at several points over two weeks with strength testing, tissue samples under a microscope, and a walking-based scoring system. The BPC-157 group's tendons held more force before failing, looked more fully repaired under the microscope, and the rats regained normal-looking gait sooner than the saltwater group.

review2019

This review gathered the existing animal research on BPC-157 in tendons, ligaments, and muscle. It reported that essentially every published animal study found faster or more complete healing with BPC-157, but noted that almost all of that work has come from small rodent studies run by a limited number of research groups, with no human evidence at the time of writing.

people2024

A 2024 pilot study in twelve women with long-term bladder symptoms. Each got a single BPC-157 injection during a procedure and filled out a standard symptom questionnaire afterward. There was no comparison group, so it is an early report, not a controlled trial.

Handling

Mixing and storage

Lyophilized: -20C, protected from light. Reconstituted: 2-8C.

Full handling guide
  1. 01

    Let it warm up

Give the vial twenty minutes on the bench before opening it, so water does not condense onto the powder.

  2. 02

    Add bacteriostatic water

Slowly, down the inside wall of the vial, never straight onto the powder.

  3. 03

    Let it dissolve

Leave it alone until it clears. Do not shake it. Shaking damages the peptide.

  4. 04

    Refrigerate and use

Once mixed, it breaks down much faster than the dry powder. Keep it cold and dark.

Questions

Common questions about BPC-157

What is BPC-157?

Pull the name apart and BPC-157 tells on itself: Body Protection Compound, and the number counts the fifteen amino acids stitched together to build it, since pentadeca- just means fifteen. It's modeled on a fragment of a protein naturally found in stomach lining, though the version studied and sold is entirely lab-made. Almost all of the published research on it traces back to one long-running research group in Croatia. SBz Industries sells it for laboratory research only.

Has BPC-157 been tested in people?

Barely. A 2024 pilot study in twelve women is one of the only published human reports, and it had no placebo group. Everything else is rats, mice and cells.

Why is almost all BPC-157 research done in rats?

Because that's where the research program actually started and has mostly stayed. A 2019 review found the great majority of published studies came from a small number of labs working in rodent injury models, not from broad independent replication.

What is the molecular formula and weight of BPC-157?

The molecular formula is C62H98N16O22. The molecular weight is 1419.5 g/mol. Both are stated on the certificate of analysis on the product page.

How is BPC-157 reconstituted?

BPC-157 ships as a freeze-dried powder. Mix it with bacteriostatic water, added slowly down the inside wall of the vial, and let it dissolve without shaking. The researcher decides the working concentration, not us, and we publish no protocols.

How should BPC-157 be stored?

Lyophilized: -20C, protected from light. Reconstituted: 2-8C. Vials ship in plain outer packaging with no product name on the outside.

Is BPC-157 tested, and can I see the results?

Yes. An independent lab tests every compound: it confirms the compound is what the label says and measures purity by HPLC. The latest certificate is on the product page, and you can read it before you order.

Who is permitted to purchase BPC-157?

Researchers and institutions, 21 or over. By ordering you confirm the material is for laboratory research and will not be used in humans or animals.
